People Watching at a Great Price

Lincoln Road. The pace to see and be seen. Why do you think there’s so many tables outside of all the restaurants? People watching  of course!

I know! Most restaurants on Lincoln road are very pricey however I have a solution for you and its called: Beat The Clock!

Two sibling restaurants only a few doors away from each other have this happy hour – like food sprees!

They are: Spris and Tiramisu

Both are very well known restaurants yet this special treat that they offer is known by few.

So here I am to break down what exactly it is and how it works.

Beat The Clock runs from 5-7PM EVERYDAY! Yup, even on Sundays!

They each have 3 coveted menu items included in this special.

Spris = 3 types of Pizza

Pizza Margherita

Tomato Sauce, mozzarella and basil (regular price 9.50)

Pizza Diavola

Tomato sauce, mozzarella and imported Italian Spicy salami (regular price 10.50)

Pizza Genovese

Tomato sauce, mozzarella, black olives, Genoa pesto and garlic (regular Price 10.00)

Tiramisu = 3 types of Pasta

Linguine alla Carbonara
Linguine with eggs, bacon, cream and Parmesan cheese
(regular price $13.00)

Rigatoni Pomodoro e Basilico
Rigatoni with chopped tomatoes and fresh basil
(regular price $12.50)

Pipette alle Melanzane
Pipette with eggplant, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, oregano and basil
(regular price $13.50)

You basically pay the price of the time you order!

Example: If you arrive at 5:15PM you pay $5.15 per plate or per pizza!!!

Insane, right?!

This applies all the way until 7PM!

Now they even include this with their specialty cocktails too!

Go Find them and enjoy a great cheap meal!

Love,

Muriel

The best $30ish I ever spent

I try to NEVER pay full price for anything except my bi-weekly manicures and good organic food.

On a random day before work I stopped by urban outfitters and came across an amazing belt! Yes, a tiny, thin belt. I left it and ran over to work but I couldn’t get it out of my head. During my lunch break I gave in and paid the most I’ve ever paid for a belt!

I’ve never ever found one like it ever again and it has seriously completed tons of outfits. Every time I go shopping I look for some similar siblings to this black beauty but haven’t come across one like it yet!

After searching through old Facebook albums I managed to pull together many pictures of outfits I’ve worn with this treasured belt. Its so special that I cannot fathom the though of loosing it! Any time my room is a mess I make sure I have my eye on my belt and then hang it!

Do you have any special pieces that you can’t live out! Please share!

The Perfect Manicure

I’ll admit it, I’m the pickiest person in the world when it comes to my nails. I guess this is because I grew up biting them. I’m happy to say I haven’t bitten my nails in many many years. This is due in part thanks to my weekly manicures which later turned bi-weekly thanks to Shellac and the magic of gel nail polishes. I’ve been addicted to this lovely system since October 2010. I haven’t been able to go back to a regular manicure since! For only $25 it turns out to be cheaper than my weekly manicure yet it last much longer. It remains as shiny as when it is first applied. Your nails have to be perfectly coated for the gel/polish hybrid to stay put which is why it is so perfect! The only down side is removing them. Most salons charge an extra fee to remove it or you can soak in 100% acetone for 5 minutes then scrape them off with a wooden stick. Gel polishes are the future and we’re luck to have it. I will never go back. Ever.

The photo below was one of my first Shellac manicures. It stood the test of being in the Bahamas in and out of the ocean for a whole week and I was sold!

Check your local nail salon because gel polishes are spreading fast and arriving quickly everywhere.

South Beach Royalty

Don’t think that I have forgotten all about Miami Spice! I have not! I’ve just been finishing up my Master’s degree you know, no big deal….

The last Miami Spice I attended was with some wonderful friends at Smith and Wolensky! This place is an icon on South Beach. Right along the coast line in the beautiful South Of Fifth area. The Smith and Wolensky menu is sure to please anyone’s taste but not their wallets! Thanks to the Miami Spice ”us” regular people can afford to dine in luxury on the water.

The first thing I think of eating at Smith and Wolensky is a good steak and that is exactly what we all ate! So the only entree photos I have are of the Filet Mignon.

Here are the appetizers we chose:

There Mixed Greens

Caesar Salad
Split Pea SoupAll of which were delish!

We just had to order their famous truffle mac and cheese! It was the most unique tasting mac and cheese ever!

And for Dessert we had one of each of the choices.

Chocolate Creme Brûlée

To die for!!!!

Cheesecake

Banana & White Chocolate Bread Pudding

Before anyone critique my picture I must add that they are all taken with the camera on an iPhone 4! Its part of what makes this blog unique and fun! So, please don’t hate! Maybe one day when I have a bigger budget I’ll take some nice professional shots but that would interrupt my dining experience. :D

And by no means is Miami Spice over! Miami Spice goes all the way till the last day of September. I’m thinking of going to Scarpetta at the Fountainbleau next! Thoughts!?

Bon Appetite!

Night at The Museum

This must be the coolest event I’ve been to. Full of life and culture; Beats After Sunset is the way The Bass Museum of Miami Beach gets down with the night crowd. The event takes place the first friday of every month from 8-10PM. All you have to do is pay the regular $8.00 entrance fee and you are free to roam the museum at night! Free drinks and snacks as well as cool sounds by a different DJ every month! This time around Chambord and Herradura Tequila provided some sweet cocktails as well as other refreshments by Perrier and some wines.

I’d never thought that drinking at a museum would be so much fun, you see the art in a different way. I wasn’t the only one enjoying the art in new ways!

I’d never thought that drinking at a museum would be so much fun, you see the art in a different way.

Be sure to check out the next Beats After Sunset at the Bass Museum of Art on October 7th and every first friday of the month! See you there!

Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Living in Miami Beach

So after reading a funny blog post from The Miami New Times about why Florida is the best state to live in, I decided that it was time to share why I love where I live. I’ve been lucky enough to reside in Miami Beach since 2008. Living here has even inspired this whole blog. Its pretty awesome! So check out the list along with some fun photos of my experiences living here.

10. Most places are open late so you don’t have to drive very far to get what you are looking for even if its a late night drink.

9. It’s more affordable than you think.

8. There’s always something to do. Tons of free and fun cultural events are held on this island.

7. Public transportaion is actually not so bad over here. And you can actually take a taxi somewhere and it won’t cost an arm and a leg!

6. Its basically paradise. After seeing beaches in other countries, ours truly are stu-ning! The Image below is the beach in front of my building taken w/ an iPhone 4. Unbelievable.

5. You don’t really need a car. A scooter/motorcycle and bicycle are plenty.

4. It really rains less here than in the suburbs. (just from what I’ve heard)

3. You will never run out of places to eat. Any flavor, culture, or style of food you are craving will most likely be found here.

2. Being walking distance from the beach. Need I say more?

1. It really just makes you a happier person!

See you at the beach!

China Grill Thrills

What a pleasure it was to dine in one of South Beach’s most famous restaurants. I’ve always just gazed at the beautiful colorful tower that is host to China Grill. They’re Miami Spice menu offers lots of options including a wine pairing with every course for only $15 more!

For a table of four you get 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 2 sides and 2 desserts. The first appetizer to arrive were the dumplings and I thought 6 dumplings was not enough for 4 people. 2 for each would have been nice.

Then the rest of the food and wine pairings started rolling in!

The Chicken SatayThe very tasty: Crackling Calamari Salad

Sweet Soy Marinated Skirt Steak -Melts in your mouthWild Mushrooms Profusion Pasta – This was huge!

Barbequed Salmon – Like butter

Now for the sides…

Steamed Veggies

Five Vegetable Rice

I must say that when I’m hungry, Chinese food is not my first choice. But, this place was amazing!

Here’s my favorite part – Dessert

And the sparkling dessert wine

Great place, great vibe, and amazing food. Thanks Miami Spice and China Grill for existing.

The Best Deal Yet!

Is that picture not what you think of when you picture Miami?! I mean this is one of the key images in the City Furniture commercials! And this is exactly what you see from the outside patio of Waxy O’Connors. But wait, it gets better! On Thursday nights they offer 25 cent beers! I mean really how do you beat that. The brains brains behind this are the nightlife marketing peeps from Vitamin C Communications. Geniuses! How can you resist a beer for 25 cents?! Do the math, 10 beers = $2.50. Yes, the cups are small, but how can you complain with a price like this?

Enjoy some of the pics of some of the tables and sights at Waxy O’Connors Miami.

Located right in Brickell: 690 sw 1st court close to all your favorite other spots. My only complaint about this place is the whole parking situation. If I’m going to a chill pub, I’m not looking to Valet my car. Luckily there are meters near by, but they get full fast so get there early!

Cheers!
